Manupulating microsoft sql server using sql injection

This paper will not cover basic SQL syntax or SQL Injection. It is assumed that the reader has a strong understanding of these topics already. This paper will focus on advanced techniques that can be used in an attack on a (web) application utilizing Microsoft SQL Server as a backend. These techniques demonstrate how an attacker could use a SQL Injection vulnerability to retrieve the database content from behind a firewall and penetrate the internal network. This paper is meant to educate security professionals of the potential devastating effects SQL Injection could have on an organization. Web applications are becoming more secure because of the growing awareness of attacks such as SQL Injection. However, in large and complex applications, a single oversight can result in the compromise of the entire system. Specifically, many developers and administrators of (web) applications may have a false sense of security because they use stored procedures or mask an error messages returned to the browser. This may lead them to believe that they can not be compromised by this vulnerability. While we discuss Microsoft SQL Server in this paper, this is no way indicative that Microsoft SQL

Architecture of a Database System (Foundations and Trends(R) in Databases)

Database Management Systems (DBMSs) are a ubiquitous and critical component of modern computing, and the result of decades of research and development in both academia and industry. Architecture of a Database System presents an architectural discussion of DBMS design principles, including process models, parallel architecture, storage system design, transaction system implementation, query processor and optimizer architectures, and typical shared components and utilities. Successful commercial and open-source systems are used as points of reference, particularly when multiple alternative designs have been adopted by different groups. Historically, DBMSs were among the earliest multi-user server systems to be developed, and thus pioneered many systems design techniques for scalability and reliability now in use in many other contexts. While many of the algorithms and abstractions used by a DBMS are textbook material, Architecture of a Database System addresses the systems design issues that make a DBMS work. Architecture of a Database System is an invaluable reference for database researchers and practitioners and for those in other areas of computing interested in the systems design techniques for scalability and reliability that originated in DBMS research and development.

Database Design Using Entity-Relationship Diagrams

Entity-relationship (E-R) diagrams are time-tested models for database development well-known for their usefulness in mapping out clear database designs. Also commonly known is how difficult it is to master them. With this comprehensive guide, database designers and developers can quickly learn all the ins and outs of E-R diagramming to become expert database designers. Because E-R diagrams are so fundamental to database design, this book is also an indispensable text for teaching computer science students the basics of database development. Database Design Using Entity-Relationship Diagrams clarifies E-R diagramming by defining it in terms of requirements (end user requests) and specifications (designer feedback to those requests). The book explains how open communication between designers and end users is critical to developing usable, easy-to-understand E-R diagrams that model both requirements and specifications. The authors explain, in an intuitive, informal manner, how to develop an E-R diagram, how to map it to a database, and how the resulting database can be tested. This definitive guide is a basic component for any database course, and is also an invaluable reference that database professionals can use throughout their careers. introbul>Features

TCP/IP Clearly Explained, Fourth Edition (The Morgan Kaufmann Series in Networking)

With over 30,000 copies sold in previous editions, this fourth edition of TCP/IP Clearly Explained stands out more than ever. You still get a practical, thorough exploration of TCP/IP networking, presented in plain language, that will benefit newcomers and veterans alike. The coverage has been updated, however, to reflect new and continuing technological changes, including the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP), the Blocks architecture for application protocols, and the Transport Layer Security Protocol (TLS).

The improvements go far beyond the updated material: they also include an all-new approach that examines the TCP/IP protocol stack from the top down, beginning with the applications you may already understand and only then moving deeper to the protocols that make these applications possible. You also get a helpful overview of the "life" of an Internet packet, covering all its movements from inception to final disposition.

If you're looking for nothing more than information on the protocols comprising TCP/IP networking, there are plenty of books to choose from. If you want to understand TCP/IP networking-why the protocols do what they do, how they allow applications to be extended, and how changes in the environment necessitate changes to the protocols-there's only the one you hold in your hands.

* Explains-clearly and holistically, but without oversimplification-the core protocols that make the global Internet possible.

* Fully updated to cover emerging technologies that are critical to the present and future of the Internet.

* Takes a top-down approach that begins with the familiar application layer, then proceeds to the protocols underlying it, devoting attention to each layer's specifics.

* Divided into organized, easy-to-follow sections on the concepts and fundamentals of networking, Internet applications, transport protocols, the Internet layer and infrastructure, and practical internetworking.

Dictionary of Parasitology

Although many books have been published on various aspects of human, animal, and plant parasitology, as well as the public health problems associated with parasites, none to date has offered a comprehensive glossary for those confronted with the discipline's exceptionally extensive terminology. To meet this need requires a dedicated text that can house the myriad entries that define all the basic principles and advanced nomenclature of parasitology.

The Dictionary of Parasitology reflects current practice in all aspects of parasitology and includes spellings, punctuation, abbreviations, acronyms, symbols, nomenclature, prefixes, and suffixes. It covers the field of modern parasitology with concise, clear, and authoritative precision. The dictionary assigns entries of parasites to the primary divisions of parasitology: human, veterinary, plant, insect, or fish; although in many instances the area of interest may be wide-ranging.

The dictionary provides the depth and breadth of knowledge that makes it both an informative and useful volume for beginners and experts in the field, as well as for writers and editors of scientific texts. Entries cover control measures, immunology, physiology, pharmacology, etc., and each are labeled according to the most appropriate area to which they relate.

A Dictionary of Neurological Signs

The first two editions of the Dictionary of Neurological Signs were very well-received by readers and reviewers alike. Like those editions, this Third Edition, updated and expanded, can be almost as well described in terms of what the book is not, along with details about what it is. The Dictionary is not a handbook for treatment of neurological disorders. While many entries provide the latest treatment options, up-to-the-minute therapies are not discussed in bedside level detail. The Dictionary is not a board review book because it is not in Q&A format but could easily serve in that capacity since each entry is a fairly complete snapshot of a specific disorder or disease. The Dictionary is an alphabetical listing of commonly presenting neurological signs designed to guide the physician toward the correct clinical diagnosis. The Dictionary is focused, problem-based, concise and practical. The structured entries in this practical, clinical resource provide a thumbnail of a wide range of neurological signs. Each entry includes: • A definition of the sign • A brief account of the clinical technique required to elicit the sign • A description of the other signs which may accompany the index sign • An explanation of pathyophysiological and/or pharmacological background • Differential diagnosis • Brief treatment details Where known, these entries also include the neuroanatomical basis of the sign. The Dictionary of Neurological Signs, Third Edition, is an indispensable reference for all students, trainees, and clinicians who care for patients with neurological disorders.
